King Street Sounds, was created in 1993 by Hisa Ishioka and is a division of Hi's Productions USA. The label name was inspired by the actual location of legendary New York City night club Paradise Garage. The label is also heavily inspired by the late Larry Levan. The label is known for the ''Mix the Vibe'' series, which has showcased the talents of Louie Vega, Danny Krivit, David Morales, Doc Martin, Lil Louis, Peter Rauhofer, Tony Humphries, Ron Trent, Cevin Fisher, Lord G, DJ Pierre, Kerri Chandler, Mondo Grosso, DJ Spinna, Joe Claussell, DJ Spen, and Teddy Douglas. One of King Street Sounds' most notable records is Johnny Dangerous's "Problem #13," which is well known as "I Beat That Bitch with a Bat" and, in 2003, was sampled on Rah Digga's "Party & Bullshit." Other King Street classics to mention are "Party Girl" by Ultra Naté, "Circles" by Kimara Lovelace, "Emerald City" by Johnny Dangerous, "Closer" by Mood II Swing featuring Carolyn Sylvan, "Most Precious Love" by Blaze presents United Dance Artists For Life featuring Barbara Tucker, and "Touched the Sky" by Dennis Ferrer featuring Mia Tuttavilla. Sub-labels are NiteGrooves and Street King.
